Selling on Spoonflower

turmites.art started as an experiment. I’m not the best person to tell you if it’s art or not, but it feels like it to me, in the sense that there’s a message in my works, I want to communicate ideas and start conversations.

As I kept working on the code and configuration options to generate these works, what started as “take a mathematical object and make it look pleasing to the eye”, turned into a technique to generate interesting, unusual and beautiful patterns.

So, I decided to work on some patterns that would look nice on fabric and wallpapers and l find out how these patterns can be monetised on line. It seems that there is a whole world out there that I ignored, with services that allow you to sell or license patterns to manufacturers of crafters, print your own fabrics and everything in between.

After doing some basic research, and I decided to go with Spoonflower as their model is better for me: you upload your work, they will sell it on items like fabric, napkins, wallpapers and you get a commission on each sale.

So here is my first pattern on Spoonflower: Forest 01 (follow link to see more).
